About me

Who am I?

The bad thing about life in this world is that people are always asking you to explain who you are, what you are doing, and why, as if you could tell them, as if you knew. So not only are you tempted to try to make sense of it yourself, even though you have no clue the trajectory your life is on, but also you feel an obligation to make sense of your own life for others, so they won't feel uncomfortable, so it can fit neatly in their little paradigm. Unfortunately: it can't.

This blog is a chronicle of my journey, of the Grand Tour I never took when I was younger because I was too afraid and too preoccupied with making a sensible life. It will still have its moments, in fact a core, of practicality but ultimately it's an exercise in greater dependency on God. Why am I going? I can't tell you. What will I learn? You'll know it when I do.

In fairness, a bit about me, Sylvia, the author: I'm a mid-thirties professional, oldest of five, extrovert, lover of nature, singer, writer, reader, and, most importantly, Catholic.
